World Book Night Winner

Exciting! My application for World Book Night was accepted. On April 23rd, I'll be donating 20 copies of Sherman Alexie's Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian to girls enrolled in the Just for Girls, Inc. program in Bradenton. This is one of my favorite teen books, and it's one where the audio edition (read by the author) totally stands up to the print copy. Sherman Alexie is a Native American author, and this is a loosely autobiographical take of his teen experiences.

Annotation: Arnold Spirit, Jr., or "Junior", is a budding cartoonist. The book details Arnold's life on the Spokane Indian Reservation and his decision, upon encouragement from a reservation teacher, to go to an all-white high school in the off-reservation town of Reardan, Washington.

World Book Night has the inspiring mission of encouraging non-readers to read. Learn more about them at http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/.
